80eight:  Music &  Band Photography

It’s my pleasure to put a small selection of shots from my photoshoot with Colleen and Philip from 80eight.  They really understand what Ames is all about and have a genuine enthusiasm for supporting new talent in music.  I found their advice and professionalism invaluable and look forward to working with them more in the future.

Gemma Randall – Illustrator

I came across the lovely Gemma Randall as many of us tend to meet people these days – online, through Twitter.  Gemma is an illustrator from Bristol who has done a lot of commissioned work for publications like The Big Issue and Diva magazine.  She set herself up as a self-employed artist last year after a stint in TV as an Art Director.  Since then she’s had a bunch of projects thrown her way and eventually she had a project request from me.  We got talking about the Orchestra Girl EP and I gave her the lowdown on the sorts of album covers I liked.  She got cracking on an idea and I loved the results straight away.  She’s got a really good understanding and I don’t think she needed much input from me!  It was Gemma’s idea to go for a cardboard sleeve with a wrap-around sticker for the album artwork which has given me a really nice and original case.  I’m really grateful to the work Gemma put in and I have it on good authority that she really enjoyed it.  I have no doubt that Gemma will be doing Ames-related artwork in the future and I’m sure we’re going to build a pretty good relationship.  Aside from someone to work with, Gemma is a good laugh and a positive person, I’d recommend anyone thinking of getting artwork done, to contact her.
