I’ve been a musician for over 15 years and been singing since I was a miniature Jayne Doe. I am self-taught on the guitar and drums and am currently learning to play classical violin.
Music has always been the most important thing in my life; it’s brought me much joy and an equal amount of frustration. I’ve played in many bands and always been agitated by the lack of direction that unsigned musicianship can bring. But things are changing, people don’t need to chase a record deal to feel accomplished anymore. With the tools now available to musicians, there is so much scope for being as successful or as content with your trade as you like.
I have set up this blog to document my own progress in the world of DIY musicianship. I will be posting about recording, branding, image, linking to articles and resources and relaying my own experiences from the idea of a song, the ideas behind the song, songwriting tips and any other information I think you will find useful.
I’m about to embark on the journey from bedroom Jane Doe musician to a Jayne Doe with a CD and an online presence. I’ve never tried this before but thought it would be useful to document the experience to help others and share information around.
Hope you find it useful!
